Podcast Recommendations
Happy #InternationalPodcastDay!
What better way to celebrate than to deliver more hand-picked podcast recommendations. I'm testing a couple of ways to add podcast value to your lives. This includes testing text messages with your recommended listening for the week... So if you get one, don't yell at me!
Let me know how it works and feedback for what you'd like to see.
I am also archiving all previous newsletters to the Great Pods Substack page. Taking in some listener feedback on the website configuration, ratings are easily viewable at the top of the review, along with podcast name. Thanks for the feedback; keep it comin'! Our new goal is to trying to reach a goal of 100 reviews by the end of the week. So keep adding your episode reviews!
On to my podcast picks this week...
I can't get enough of this - the best new comedy-interview podcast of the summer. SmartLess, hosted by three really good friends who also happen to be super-famous actors: Sean Hayes (Will & Grace), Jason Bateman (Ozark, Arrested Development), and Will Arnett (Arrested Development, LEGO Batman).
Dustin Rowles from Pajiba.com summarizes my thoughts perfectly: "SmartLess feels like a small party with close friends who are comfortable needling each other’s weak spots in front of the guests. Arnett can say “Eat shit, Bateman,” while also asking Kamala Harris about the state of the economy. That’s fun."
My personal picks for standout interviews are Maya Rudolph, Robert Downey Jr., and Dax Shepard.
It's an understatement to say 2020 has been tough. As I venture down the path of entrepreneurship, I'm going to be highlighting some episodes that have definitely helped me, and might provide insight and guidance to those of you also building a business.
Today, I am highlighting The GaryVee Audio Experience Podcast. In this episode, Gary speaks with Guy Raz, an accomplished NPR correspondant (and contributor to Ted Talks Radio Hour and How I Built This podcast), about his successes - but more importantly, all his rejections.
Are you a True Crime newbie? Have you never heard of this podcast?? Today we highlight a Critic's review from the Creightonion of the long running fan-favorite, My Favorite Murder:
"The hosts feel relatable, and although they can get carried away in unrelated conversation, they are fantastic storytellers. If you want a way to learn more about crime and not feel overwhelmed with forensics and gory details, “My Favorite Murder” is worth listening to." Read the full review.
More details: Lifelong fans of true crime stories Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark tell each other their favorite tales of murder and hear hometown crime stories from friends and fans.
I expect a listener review from subscriber Hibah M. on this soon!
