Hey Party People,
It’s already June! Holy chalupas. Where did the time go? We have over 800 Critic reviews for over 600 podcasts so far! Let’s do a quick review of who we are.
Great Pods is a podcast discovery/decision-making ecosystem that uses Critic reviews and ratings to help you find your first or next podcast listen. The Rotten Tomatoes for podcasts.
Website update: Chris is implementing Brian’s design changes on the website. The release date is going to be at some point this month. Exciting times!
Team update: Sebastian (CTO) had the idea that since we are now vaxxed, we should have a team bonding session. All I think about is The Office Beach Games episode.
Let the bonding begin!
On to my picks this week…
Podcast: 70 over 70
Genre: Society
Publisher: Pineapple Street Studio
I saw this podcast on a few apps being featured and decided to look into some Critic reviews before making the decision to listen.
About: Max Linsky talks to 70 remarkable people, all over the age of 70, not just about their past but their lives right now. These are conversations about the big questions we all ask ourselves, no matter how old we are. What does it mean to live well? What are we still searching for? And how do we learn to let go?
The tone is not high energy, so you’ll need to pay attention. Surprisingly insightful.
They’ve (subjects) also expressed little fear when Linsky asked them how they felt about dying."

Maybe have a walk or a drive to listen.
Podcast: BirdNote
Genre: Nature
Publisher: Birdnote
Nature lovers. Bird lovers. Bird curious? A Western Blue Jay this morning landed nearby and reminded me of recommending this podcast. In just one minute every day, you get to learn a lot about birds. I had no idea most birds have an oil on their feathers that helps roll water off and dry them when they bathe. Birds also use the pressure of sound to determine where noise is coming from. Love it!
“Each bite-size vignette is a vacation for the ears, perfect for momentarily forgetting you’re stuck in rush hour.”
Nicholas Lund - Audubon - Mar 16, 2018
Podcast: Sleep With Me
Genre: Sleep - Health
Publisher: Dearest Scooter | Night Vale Presents
What took me so long to recommend this podcast? I’ve been listening to this podcast for a couple of years now. I guess I keep forgetting because I never remember in the morning. That’s how good it is. However, it wasn’t until a new Refinery29 review came out did it occur to me that there would be Critic reviews on it. Guess what? It’s the most reviewed podcast we have with a whopping 18 Critic reviews!
It’s so boring that it’s magical. Now I know what my friends tell me about my storytelling.
“The next thing you know, you’re waking up in a puddle of pillow drool and nine hours have passed.”

Honorable mention for the 77th Anniversary of D-Day:
Podcast: Walk Among Heroes
Genre: History
Publisher: Jeff Wells
About: …these incredible heroes tell their stories, unedited and in their own words. From the sights, sounds, and smells of combat, to their secrets for a long and successful life, these Veterans tell all.
Hearing Veteran Ray Lambert describe his first-person narrative that it’s a different feeling when you turn over your best friend who just got killed. Sigh.
“The result is an astounding podcast episode, with an incredible narration about monumental battles in World War Two.”
Michael Walsh - Yonkers Public Library - Jun 2, 2021
Stay safe and take your vitamins!
XOXO
