An undead🧟♂️ welcome to this week's new subscribers: Andrea, Carlos, Sameem, and Safoora!
What I'm working on: There are so many top 10 lists for your favorite genre out there. I decided to make a master list and share that with y'all. I am starting off with the best Horror and True Crime of 2020. Look out for that in your inbox soon. Occasionally at the bottom of this email, I'll make a point to add a link to a relevant article that might be of interest in the podcast space. Take a look!
And as always, here is your weekly reminder to add your new fresh reviews here! Lastly, if you think you know someone that would like this email, share it, and have your friends sign up!
On to my podcast picks this week...
Snap Judgment: Spooked
Speaking of the horror list I mentioned above, Snap Judgment: Spooked was on the list. I generally pay attention to everything that comes out of WNYC Studios, the content is that good: 2 Dope Girls, Death, Sex, and Money, Radiolab and more.
About the podcast: True-life supernatural stories, told first-hand by people who can barely believe it happened themselves.
My episode recommendation: I managed to find an episode that hits close to home (for you Bay Area folks), focusing on a school teacher in Los Gatos: "Kristen is a new teacher in beautiful Los Gatos. From her classroom window, she can see rolling, golden hills. Redwood trees. The sun is almost always shining. And yet… something lurks."
I recommend listening to this episode with your headphones on. The sound effects reverberate and the eeriness multiplies. I really enjoyed this episode, and recommend as a good first listen for you all.
After that I listened to their latest episode "Skinwalkers" about Native American witchcraft. I didn't find this one to be as captivating, but if you listen to other episodes, let me know. And if you do, write your review so I can take a listen!
Carly Mallenbaum from USA TODAY wrote, "You can almost picture [Glynn] Washington(host) sitting around a campfire with a flashlight positioned below his chin as he tells ghost stories about his death pact with his brother and letting us hear from one woman’s visit by a recently-deceased spirit, another person’s encounter with an eerie voice that demanded action and a tale about a crowd possessed by animal spirits."

Whistleblower
The NBA Finals are over and the Los Angeles Lakers won another championship with King James at the lead. The Tokyo Olympics were postponed and so while we'll have to wait to see our ultimate Team USA whoop-ass, we do have some investigative reporting to hold you over!
If you recall the NBA referee fixing scandal in the 2000s, this new investigative podcast has everything: scapegoats, the mafia, and Rasheed Wallace. I listened to the first two episodes and I am fully invested. The intro starts with former NBA player, Rasheed Wallace, recounting a double technical that Tim Donaghy (the NBA Ref at the center of the scandal), gave Wallace. The 2nd episode features an interview with Donaghy himself. So far so good.

Hello Monday with Jessi Hempel
My new-ish weekly podcast recommendation is Hello Monday from LinkedIn. The podcast is about a year old, but I just started listening.
My opinion: Jessi does a good job of staying on topic and going back to the agenda she laid out throughout the interview and discussion.
About the podcast: LinkedIn’s Jessi Hempel explores the changing nature of work, and how that work is changing us. What does work mean to us? Should we love what we do? How can we switch it up? Join Jessi as she talks with guests such as Reid Hoffman, Roxane Gay, and Guy Raz to unearth lessons that apply to our own careers.
