A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that The Navigator newsletter gave us a boost in web traffic, but the link didnāt work. Hereās the corrected link. Please work this time.
Iām headed to Podcast Movement Dallas in two weeks and network my ass off while speaking on two panels. First up is pod buddy, Maya Chupkovās Proud Stutter.
Her podcast was recently dropped in the Guardianās recommendation list! Proud moment. Drop a reply and let me know if you will be there so we can chat.
Podcast to TV: Apple TV is investing more in the Podcast to TV pipeline in addition to what they already have. That includes Wild Things, The Line, and more. Now with Futuro Studios (Anything For Selena, Ćdolo: The Ballad of Chalino SĆ”nchez) Read it here.
Welcome to Chippendales is a new Hulu docu-drama that sounded too close to the excellent podcast Welcome To Your Fantasy. I asked the podcast creator, Natalia Petrzela, if she was involved and she replied that she wasn't. Iām holding back my opinion on the Hulu series, but just the title alone is suspect.
Analytics Update: In July, we hit a new high. I will never not be shocked by what we are building. Tell your friends, tell your families, tell everyone.
Fundraising is hard. If you know someone interested, hit the reply. End of message.
On to my picks this weekā¦
Podcast: The Black and Irish Podcast
Genre: Society
Publisher: RTE
Published by the NPR/BBC of Ireland, RTE, I remember adding this podcast last year, but didnāt listen until pod critic Keelin got around to it. This was educational for sure because the last time I went for a quick visit to Ireland, I did not see any African-Black Irish citizens.
Overall, this podcast shows the power of podcasts to lift these voices up I didnāt know existed. From honoring their African culture as Irish citizens and joining Irish politics this is a great internationally diverse pick.
Keelin ā¢ Mentally? A Magpie.
āOverall this is a really well done, and I also think an important podcast. Everyone deserves to see people that look, talk, and have similar experiences in media. This is giving the Black Irish community a place specifically, and unapologetically, for themselves.ā
Guest Pick: Sean Edrington, a former SecuritiesĀ Analyst at Goldman Sachs, writes about all things entrepreneurshipĀ and business related. His current publications include All-In Write-Ups, My First Million Write-Ups, and The Swing Trading Club. For market updates andĀ analysis, follow his Twitter account.
So naturally, my pick from the bunch is My First Million.
Podcast: My First Million
Genre: Entrepreneurship
Publisher: Sam Parr, Shaan Puri, Hubspot
In the last year, Hubspot acquired The Hustle newsletter and their podcast My First Million. Itās a pretty casual feeling podcast that I listen to occasionally. Seanās newsletter pointed out the eggcarton.com episode and the hustle that the founder went through in her journey. The hustle is real.
David James ā¢ The Anti Startup
ā...the shows easily going, conversational style seems so simple and easy. Its really not. It's clear to me that Sam and Shaan put a lot of effort into making the show feel so effortlessā

Honorable mention:
Podcast: Shameless Acquisition Target
Genre: Society, Business
Publisher: Laura Mayer
Speaking of business, Lauraās Shameless Acquisition Target is made to selling out. Episodes 1 and 2 are quite relatable to me. Fresh.
Podcast: Fed Up
Genre: Food, Society
Publisher: Wondery
Diet influencer drama. It does remind me of the excellent Maintenance Phase except itās one story for the season with all the bells and whistles that Wondery does.
The juiciness of this story is that it is super recent and ongoing.
Hannah Verdier ā¢ The Guardian
āWilson balances a compelling trip into influencer culture with a little sarcasm.ā
Just Added:
Kammy & Ben's Proper Football Podcast
The Luchador: 1,000 Fights of El Fuego Fuerte
Stay safe, be empathetic, stay hydrated in this heat, and be kind!
Listening with you,
Captain Ron
