Hey Party People!
I just want to say how fulfilling it is to write to you all, recommending podcasts, and telling you all about the progress of the website. Itβs the small details that get overlooked. No joke there!
It has definitely put into perspective the priorities of wants vs. needs. The point is we raised our first round of funding and will be pushing Great Pods to the masses. Thank you to those who supported. Click here for the full story!
Website update: We updated our basic on-page SEO. This affects Google/Bing search when folks want to look up the website and get descriptions and sharing pages. We like to think these details are always there, but no, we need to add them.
If you enjoy these updates with the recommendations, would you share them with a friend?
On to my picks this weekβ¦
Podcast: Good Job, Brain!
Genre: Games | Education
Publisher: GoodJobBrain.com
Oh, how I miss trivia nights at the local venue. I sucked at it, but it was fun regardless. If you like random trivia and facts in a fun setting, this is a podcast for all of us. I was curious about the origins of April Fools in audio form, and thanks to Cory, he had a clip already cut from this podcast. Check it out of you are curious and the podcast in general!
βYouβll find yourself learning something unusually interesting while being entertained. The hosts Karen, Colin, Dana, and Chris are witty and play off each other brilliantly.β

They are on hiatus and will be returning for a new season, but you can catch up on old episodes. The last episode is west coast themed. Did you know Michael Bolton babysat Paula Abdul?
Podcast: Lost Hills
Genre: True Crime
Publisher: Western Sound & Pushkin Industries
Top of the Apple Podcast charts this week is this brand new True Crime podcast. The West Coast, a privileged community, and murder.
About: On June 22, 2018, 35-year-old scientist Tristan Beaudette is brutally murdered in front of his two young daughters while camping in idyllic Malibu Creek State Park.
It oscillates between the dark gravity of Beaudetteβs killing and the goofiness of the Malibu setting, cutting what could be a straightforwardly told story with a slightly ironic eye. The combination is captivating.

Podcast: Star Trek - The Pod Directive
Genre: Sci-Fi TV
Publisher: Star Trek
Turn to the Nerds! With Paramount+ launching (not an ad), the studio has been expanding the Star Trek Universe in the last couple of years. In September 2020, an official Star Trek interview podcast was launched with comedian Paul F. Tompkins, and Tawney Newsome (Star Trek: Lower Decks animation). If you are a Star Trek fan - go ahead, enjoy the nerdiness. Itβs great. Iβve enjoyed episodes with Reza Aslan, Stacey Abrams, and Ben Stiller. As a starter, I recommend the Tig Notaro episode. Sheβs a deadpan comedian and I find it funny that I canβt tell if sheβs telling the truth in her stories half the time.
β[The Pod Directive] has refreshingly side-stepped the more in-the-weeds aspects of Trek fandom, and instead created a chatty podcast where the definitions of a casual fan and hardcore fan are quietly, and expertly, blurred. Itβs just really interesting people talking about Star Trek and what it means to them. But, the best part is β unlike so many documentaries and televised interviews β all the big stuff is a given.β
