Industry News: Megyn Kelly signs with Sirius XM for a daily show in addition to her podcast. Read it here.
Incubator news: This week’s discussion was about the “product-market fit” cycle which is a tad bit ahead of where we at today. I believe we are in the “problem-solution fit” phase. Have you used the website? Tell me about your experience so far by hitting reply!
On to my picks this week…
Podcast: Murder In Illinois
Genre: True Crime
Publisher: iHeartRadio
Just launched today, Murder in Illinois. We got some early reviews in and there has been a common observation from both reviews we added. A similar storyline trait from Serial. Fascinating. Host Lauren Bright Pacheco is coming off the success of her previously well-received true-crime series, Murder In Oregon.
Keelin - Mentally? A Magpie. - Jul 8, 2021
“In just the first episode this team has brought forward excellent writing, with a delivery that is eerily peaceful.”
Podcast: Oh, Hello: the P’dcast
Genre: Comedy
Publisher: Gil Faizon, George St. Geegland
We add a handful of reviews each week. One of the podcasts I listened to is from the comedy pairing of John Mulaney and Nick Kroll’s characters Gil and George. They stay in character from the start. From the first episode, they try to enlist Ira Glass (This American Life) and Sarah Koenig (Serial) to help them with their p’dcast about the death of Princess Diana. It’s funny because they have no expertise on the subject. Episode 2 brings in fellow comedian John Oliver in the mix. The p’dcast was mainly used as a fundraiser for the United Way Covid relief fund.
Nic Dobija-Nootens - Podcast Review - May 19, 2020
“It’s just a niche comedy done well, and that’s something worth celebrating.”
Podcast: This Week In Startups
Genre: Entrepreneurship
Publisher: ThisWeekIn
We are entrepenuering out here. If you are looking for a podcast with an education, TWiS is very straightforward. The episode I started with was the CEO of Intercom was interesting because of the format. He gave a solo talk and then after that it was Q&A with Jason(host). Class is in session!
Curtis J. Morley - Forbes - Mar 21, 2021
“The show is a fun way to stay on top of startup news, find inspiration in others’ success and get actionable tips on how to keep your own startup thriving.”
