Hey Poddy People!
Updates:
Not Sci-Fi: After finishing an excellent Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 1 this past week, we get the first James Webb Telescope images. A mind-boggling one million miles away. NASAās Curious Universe just released an episode on it. Listen Here.
True Crime Update: The Hustle newsletter had this little tidbit:
A simple Google news search brings up new thefts even in the last week from the Lazarus group. The point is the Lazarus Heist podcast is all about this group. Season 2 is coming out this year and undoubtedly will cover some of the recent happenings. Catch up here.
In the latest episode of the audio fiction podcast The Co-Founder, a famous and sometimes unrecognizable skater, Tony Hawk, played himself and as an investor.
Speaking of startup Co-Founders, we are fundraising to take the next step for Great Pods! Accelerators/Angel Investors/Friends & Family investments. If you know anyone that would like to invest, get in touch!
On to my picks this weekā¦
Podcast: Fitness Flipped
Genre: Health & Wellness
Publisher: Peloton Studios
Surprisingly, this is a good entry here for a branded podcast like Peloton. Instructor and host, Tunde Oyeneyin, keeps her energy up the entire episode. I would have expected nothing less. This podcast review discovery came at the right moment as I was in an Apple Watch challenge. I listened to two episodes with comedian and Peloton user, Phoebe Robinson (2 Dope Queens) and popular instructor Cody Rigbsy. The format of the podcast includes a health theme with an actual expert for the first half and then a discussion with a guest along that theme.
Disclosure: I donāt own a Peloton, but I follow some Cody fan IG accounts. Pretty entertaining. I canāt really embed them here. Adult language.
Anyway, a nice reminder from Phoebe and her therapy sessions is that the way we train ourselves to work, we need to train ourselves to enjoy and have fun, thus āaccessing your humanityā.

Podcast: Hothouse Bruiser
Genre: Fiction Noir
Publisher: Joel Metzger, Realm
Adult supervision
Just like new! It looks like this 2013 audio fiction podcast has new life with Realm. I was chatting with audio fiction critic Michael Bergonzi (Audio Drama Reviews) about it because he wrote a review back in 2013 when it was independently released. After listening to the pilot episode, there isnāt anything in it to make it outdated. I have absolutely no problem with the repackage and redistribution of Hothouse Bruiser. The audio fiction genre is picking up steam, why not have a podcast from ten years ago resurface for new listeners? Thanks to Michael & Realm, Iām that new listener.
The pilot episode does set up the story nicely in noir storytelling.
āIf youāre hearing my voice right now, Iām already dead.ā - Bruiser
Chad de Lisle ā¢ Noir Whale
āThe drama is thick and cold, and the jazzy soundtrack is catchy and intoxicating.ā
Although Realm is releasing episodes weekly, you can find all episodes on outlier apps that didnāt remove the 2013 version. You didn't hear that from me.
