The new Ant-Man Trailer was released this week. If you’ve kept up with all the shows and movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you’ll know that Ant-Man, Scott Lang, has/had a podcast. Logo parody of This American Life. It’s only exclusive to the MCU. Still waiting for that wide release!
Spotted: Speaking of podcast mentions, Mike from Audio Drama Reviews was playing the new video game, Gotham Knights (Batman universe), and spotted podcast chatter within the game.
Analytics: I can’t wait to talk about the analytics from October next week!
Thank you and welcome to the new subscribers! If you are a creator and looking to get reviewed, here is a post from what I have seen out there. Read here.
Side note for listeners: On the Great Pods website, the “Listen Now” links to popular podcast apps directly. If it is exclusive to an app, it will open that particular app or page.
On to my picks this week…
Podcast: Snap Judgement: Spooked
Genre: Thriller, Horror, Non-fiction
Publisher: Snap Judgment, Luminary
About: Spooked features true-life supernatural stories, told firsthand by people who can barely believe it happened themselves. Be afraid. Created in the dark of night, by Snap Judgment Studios, and hosted by Glynn Washington.
This podcast is my Halloween sweet spot. I listened to a couple of episodes on the way back from the Bay area, and this season’s stories had me shouting and screaming with a smile in the car. The “oh no get out of there!” It’s safe to say that first-hand storytelling with subtle sound design is something I personally enjoy. These stories are easy to get into. There’s a Hawaii trail story, that I thought wasn’t going to be all that, but I was wrong!
Liz Marie • Embrace The Spooky
“Immediately I was transported into another world, listening to episode after episode until there were none left. You know you’ve come across something great when you can get lost inside your own mind as you listen to the words while time seems to slip away. I also recommend this show because it’s well produced.”
Podcast: Borrasca
Genre: Thriller
Publisher: QCode
About: In the Season 2 premiere, a ghost of the past arrives at Sam Walker’s door with a plan to get revenge for the horrors that were uncovered in Drisking ten years earlier.
QCode’s sound design is just top-notch. Borrasca season 2 is out now with another thrilling continuation starring Cole Sprouse as Sam Walker. Fascinating that the story was created in the subreddit /nosleep and picked up by QCode for adaption. The /nosleep reddit also birthed the popular No Sleep Podcast.
Larry Hunt • Collider
“With an ending that will haunt you long after the story concludes...”

Podcast: Death By Dying
Genre: Fiction, Dark Comedy
Publisher: Evening Post Productions
About: The Obituary Writer of Crestfall, Idaho finds himself deeply in over his head as he investigates a series of strange and mysterious deaths… when he is supposed to simply be writing obituaries. Along the way he encounters murderous farmers, man-eating cats, haunted bicycles, and a healthy dose of ominous shadows.
Shoutout to Stephanie A. for this pick to help me decide. The fictional narration from the Obituary Writer of Crestfall makes me wonder if it’s a little Tales from the Crypt-ish. This won’t get you screaming or jumping, but it’s still great dark and gloomy storytelling with its slight humor. Critic, Keelin recommends starting from Season 1 before jumping into Season 2 otherwise, “you will not have any idea where you are.”
Podcake • Simplecast
“You quickly become endeared to Death by Dying’s bittersweet humor and emotional core, but stay for the gripping supernatural mystery plot it’s so neatly bound in.”
