Hey Poddy People,
Today (Thursday) is the last day of Ramadan and tomorrow I celebrate. Personally, I will be getting a dozen Dunkin Donuts. If you know any Muslims in your circle of friends, make sure you send them an Eid Mubarak or Happy Eid. And if you don’t know any, well, you know me. Give me a shout. One of those things about the past month is charity and reflection of those in need. I’m donating to UNICEF USA for this month for the kids if you’re interested as well.
Updates:
This is a little old, but new to me. The great Stuff The British Stole podcast was made into a TV series in late 2022. However, it’s only available in Canada and Australia. I need to figure out a VPN way to watch...hmmm…
Vanderpump Rules. I don’t watch it, but so much drama has been happening in what’s being called peak Reality TV. I recently added Lala’s podcast (I act like I know who she is).
Two of the Real Housewives of Miami, Alexia & Marysol, launched a podcast, Ay Por Favor. Trailer here.
Speaking of Reality TV. Former Bachelor contestant, Kendall Long, is launching a science-curious podcast next week. Trailer here.
Audible/Amazon Music/Wondery is launching a Michael Jackson podcast. Hosted by Fiasco/Slow Burn creator, Leon Neyfakh, and cultural commentator Jay Smooth. Launching next week exclusively on Audible and Amazon Music only. Trailer here.
Succession Succession Succesion. I’m still decompressing from Last of Us to keep up! There’s no shortage of Succession podcasts, but you can start with the HBO Max official pod and a critically loved by The Guardian writers, Firecrotch & Normcore podcast.
Crooked Media just released the trailer to Pod Save The UK hosted by comedian Nish Kumar and journalist Coco Khan. Launching May 4th. Trailer here.
I wasn’t able to attend the WILD Season 2 event Wednesday night in LA that I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. Regardless check out the new season created by Ambie Award-winning Erick Galindo(Ídolo). WILD Reviews here.

Podcast: Wiser Than Me with Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Genre: Conversation, Society, Women
Publisher: Lemonada Media
About: Julia Louis-Dreyfus(Veep, Seinfeld) wants to know why the hell we don’t hear more from older women, so she’s sitting down with Jane Fonda, Carol Burnett, Amy Tan, Diane von Furstenberg, Isabel Allende and Fran Lebowitz (and more!) to get schooled in how to live a full and meaningful life.
Devin • Podstack
“She(Julia) really sets the tone of the show right off the top and you feel her excitement, passion, and the fun style she’s bringing to it.”
I dropped the professional review first because I have to admit, that “right off the top” feeling is right on the nose. It begins with Julia sharing a story of her past that’s well-written and narrated and connects with the women-celebrity being interviewed. She ends by calling her mom which is cute and quite good. This podcast is for all of us. “It’s not complaining if you’re telling the truth.” -Mama Julia

Podcast: Fire Draw Near
Genre: Irish Music History
Publisher: Ian Lynch
About: A monthly podcast and radio show which investigates Irish traditional music and song in all of its myriad forms.
Fiona McCann • Irish Times
“The episodes serve as part old-school music hour, part scholarly exploration, with Lynch as the charming DJ professor. Lynch...drops knowledge with ease”
This was a fun podcast to get out of my comfort zone. Some of these old Irish songs played and talked about, I just couldn’t understand the words. It was still enjoyable to get the background and creation of those particular songs. It’s in my back pocket the next time I visit Ireland.
Podcast: The Girl In The Blue Mustang
Genre: True Crime
Publisher: Dateline
About: When 18-year-old Michelle O’Keefe is found murdered in her shiny new blue Mustang in a California park and ride, investigators encounter a confusing crime scene and a witness who seems to know too much. In Dateline’s latest original podcast series, Keith Morrison takes us to the High Desert outside Los Angeles for a story featuring twists, turns and a sharp-eyed Dateline viewer who steers the case in an entirely new direction.
Remy Varga • The Australian
“The Dateline podcast specialises in strange crime and the latest series is a weird one. It’s hard to imagine Morrison doing anything other than narrating true crime stories…Also hats off to the succinct, if at times hammy, scripting.”
Seriously though. +1 on the Keith Morrison comment. As tragic as this story is, the mention of Kid Rock’s name a couple of times was scarier (sarcasm). Michelle was attending a Kid Rock video shoot before she was murdered. It’s still an active investigation and new suspects. All episodes are out now.
