Hey Poddy People,
I’m still a tad sore from the LA Marathon, but ready to meet a lot of folks at Podcast Movement Evolutions conference over here. Let’s go!
Ambie Awards Update: We attended The Podcast Academy’s Ambie Awards last night. It was lovely to see people and the show was really quick with barely any hiccups. I’ll probably have more to say in the blog after this weekend. My friend Ritu who has experience with this type of work is helping out this week with some social press coverage at the show. Shout out to her!
Podcast Movement Update: This newsletter is sent on a Thursday. By this afternoon, I will be at the Indie panel moderating my pod friends. I’m going to predict that it was amazing! Podcast Movement’s Evolutions conference is through Saturday.
Meetings Update: I’m aging myself here, but do you remember the Halo (video game) Red Vs. Blue sketch comedy on youtube in the early days. Well, they were produced by Rooster Teeth and they have a robust content platform. I got to meet AJ, Head of The Roost Podcast Network at Rooster Teeth, and Maria (Marketing Communications) from Big Smile. It was a great meeting and looking forward to furthering the Great Pods gospel.

Podcast to TV: WeCrashed, the TV adaptation starring Jared Leto is now live on Apple TV.
Twitter Spaces Update: I had the pleasure to chat with 2 out of the 3 hosts of the Reddit On Wiki podcast on Monday. I enjoyed it even more since my goal was to pick up the personality and the guys definitely helped me with that. We discussed the top 5 and their Tik Tok test among other things. Check it out here.
On to my picks this week…
Podcast of the Year Winner - Ambie Awards
Podcast: 9/12
Genre: Society, Documentary
Publisher: Wondery, Amazon, Pineapple Street Studios
Having recommended it late last year, Dan Taberski and his team put together this piece of work that won three awards at the Ambies including Podcast of the Year.
Fiona Sturges • Financial Times
“It would be easy to be cowed by the subject of 9/11 and go for a solemnly historical approach, but this isn’t Taberski’s way. Here, his arch style endures, though it is leavened by philosophical moments that reveal poignant truths about how culture, politics and society were changed.”
Podcast: Earth Eclipsed
Genre: SCI-FI
Publisher: The Lunar Company
Shoutout to Tal Minear, creator host of Sidequesting, What Will Be Here?, and Someone Dies In This Elevator for sending me the review on Earth Eclipse after last week’s newsletter. Now I can properly recommend it here. It’s a great sci-fi podcast series that is 7000 years in the future. I listened to an episode during the LA Marathon and I’m almost done with the season.
Elena Fernández Collins • Audio Dramatic
“the composition is fast-paced, breathtaking, and just futuristic enough in tone to provide that atmospheric quality of space.”
