Do you ever get the joy of finding out about something, someone, etc. that has a connection with another thing you love? Even though it was probably announced last year, it didn’t show up for you. That happened to me. The animated comedy that I love, Star Trek: Lower Decks had an episode when watching, felt different with the snappy non-stop dialogue. I looked it up, AND IT WAS podcaster JAIME LOFTUS(My Year In Mensa, Lolita, The Bechdel cast, Aack Cast + more)! Then I checked her Twitter. Confirmed. It was a great episode by the way. I was very proud of finding out about this connection.

On to my picks this week…
Podcast: Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me!
Genre: Comedy, Current Events
Publisher: WBEZ, NPR
About: NPR's weekly news quiz. Have a laugh and test your knowledge with today's funniest comedians.
The long-running radio/podcast quiz show was on tour in L.A.’s Greek Theatre last week, and I was able to attend. Heck, I’m going to a lot of live podcasts, and I love it. Bob Odenkirk and his daughter Erin were the special guests of the evening with panelists, Karen Chee (Late Night with Seth Meyers writer, new podcast Makes Sense), Maz Jobrani, and Jessi Klein. All of them with wonderful scripted and improvised comedy. What a delight!
If you’ve never listened, well now is your chance. A great road trip or Alexa at home playing show.
What a delight of a show. All the reasons why it’s been going for 25 years were on display.

“...poking fun at the news in a far more acerbic way than you would expect from a channel as classy as NPR.”

Podcast: Case 63 (Season 2)
Genre: Thriller, Sci-Fi
Publisher: Spotify
About: Season 1 - New York psychiatrist Dr. Eliza Knight (Academy Award winner Julianne Moore) begins treating a patient registered as Case 63 (Emmy nominee Oscar Isaac) who claims to be from the year 2062. What begins as routine therapeutic sessions quickly turns into a story that threatens the boundaries of the possible and the real.
Season 2 - Case 63 transports us back to 2012 where Eliza Beatrix Knight wakes confused and naked in a bathroom at JFK airport, having failed her mission. Taken to a hospital, she is treated by Dr. Vincent Caldwell - a resident psychiatrist with a familiar voice. Beatrix is now Case 63. With the future of humanity ever more at risk, Beatrix and Vincent must race to unravel the past to save an uncertain future.
Every time I read that someone is naked in a bathroom or on the floor, I head over here. (Safe for work)
Personally, I’m thankful that two of my favorite non-indie fiction podcasts released their 2nd seasons. Aftershock and now Case 63. I dig these 15-minute episodes. You might think you’ll get fatigued, but then at the end of the episode, there’s the twist so you have to play the next episode. I am about halfway through and on my way to the Meetup, I’ll probably be finishing it.
Like many shows, people often say, it’s not as good as the first season, and to a certain extent, I agree. But that’s just because it was fresh and getting a lot of the time traveling out of the way. Anyway, with the shoe being on Julianne Moore’s foot, now she needs to figure out how to save the timeline and not Oscar.
Miranda Sawyer • The Guardian
“…you know the very best Doctor Who episodes, the ones with save-the-planet urgency and mind-boggling time slippage and scary memory erasion and, yes, love? Case 63 has all of these things, but makes them grownup and sexy.”
Side note: All episodes are out now. You will need to listen to Season 1 first if you haven’t already.
Podcast: Eerie
Genre: Fiction, Horror
Publisher: Brock Media
About: An 8-episode anthology audio series of original horror stories from some of the most exciting contemporary voices in horror, pulled from literature, film & TV. Hosted and produced by Anna Bogutskaya. Each story brings a different flavour of scary, from the haunting to the grotesque, to suit different sensibilities and fright thresholds.
I listened to the two episodes that have been released so far. They are both different in narration sound. The first episode was like a daily journal reading, while episode two carried a story via voice notes. That second episode reeled me in with more creepy sound effects/voices to go along with the story.
Stephen O. • Podcast Delivery
“EERIE vomits forth a deliciously unsettling dose of fright with its interesting spin on the anthology-style horror genre.”
