On to my podcast picks this week...
Finding post-election happiness - Axios Today:
Saying that this year has been stressful is an understatement. Exercise, like taking deep breaths, is sometimes the simplest solution to calming yourself down. Or you can follow the Carl Winslow method here. This episode of Axios Today (daily news program), takes a break and chats with “The Happiness Lab” podcast host, Dr. Laurie Santos for some simple tips.
(Length: 10 minutes)
Hacking PTSD With Gratitude – Dr. James Gordon : 644 - Bulletproof Radio:
This episode of Bulletproof Radio (Dave Asprey and guests provide you with everything you need to upgrade your mind, body, and life), is a longer episode with Dr. James Gordon, a Harvard-educated psychiatrist and a world-renowned expert in using mind-body medicine to heal depression, anxiety, and psychological trauma.
Listener Shabnam said: This episode really provides perspective during this challenging election/post election time. Dave Asprey and Dr. James Gordon discuss how gratitude can promote healing from stress, depression, and even PTSD. He uses a combination of breathing and consulting your unconscious to understand how and why you feel the way you do, so that you can improve how you feel.
(Length: 70 minutes)
Honorable mention: Deepak Chopra and this breathing meditation episode. Make sure are sitting in a quiet place and have ten minutes for this exercise.
(Length: 10 minutes)
Alex Trebek - Id10t with Chris Hardwick:
We lost a good one this past weekend: Alex Trebek, the long-running host of Jeopardy! passed away at 80 years old. I went looking for podcasts he was on and picked the two from the bunch starting with Id10t (Nerdist) podcast back in 2014. 😭
Some highlights:
Almost 280 gameshows have come and gone during Alex’s Jeopardy! run
Advice to put your ego aside
Handwritten letters are something special
You can listen to my favorite the clips on the Great Pods IG page.
(Length: 90 minutes)
Note: Episodes on Apple only date back to 2016.
A Lot To Learn With Austin Rogers
Austin Rogers, a former Jeopardy! champion, interviewed Alex on his podcast “A lot to learn with Austin Rogers” if you want a different topics than the Id10t podcast. Similar in discussion.
The first 15 minutes of the pod Alex chats about remodeling both his daughter’s and his own home, why he drives a Dodge pickup, and the story of his first car being a 1956 Bentley Convertible with Wilt Chamberlain pulling up next to him.
(Length: 52 minutes)
No politics podcasts this week. You can look at last week’s email for some recommendations. Don’t forget to take a break.
XOXO
